What do we mean by "Practical Mysticism"? PDF Print E-mail
First, what does ‘Mysticism’ mean?
A mystic moment can be anything from that tiny flash of sensation that things are Larger than they seem... to that overwhelming, swept-away feeling of connection to All-Things, & that things couldn't possibly be Otherwise… when we’re absolutely convinced of the essential Rightness to the Universe, & our place within it.

Some of us have had a flash of this sensation when we reached peak performance in sports. Some while dabbling with hallucinogens. For many others, especially in the far East and/or practitioners in the 'alternative consciousness movement' in the West, these states are actively sought-after, using physical, mental, & spiritual practices which have various measures of effectiveness.

Now how about the word 'Practical'? Here are a few useful guidelines:
  • simple, clear, straightforward
  • reasonably-objectively demonstrable
  • ...& you learn it for yourself
'Belief' & 'Faith' are good things, especially when applied to one's own self. However, having to put-aside your own crown chakra (ie, your "Own Truth") for anyone else, especially for a continued length of time, has more drawbacks than benefits. In other words-- no 'guru games'.

In short, this training seeks to put a little more 'bite' into these hoary 'hidden'/'secret'/'advanced' practices. Ever read one of the many 'spiritual' books which promise to teach you advanced techniques, but instead just seem to talk all ‘about’ it but never actually how to Do it? Here at the School of Practical Mysticism we learn to actually Do it… for Ourselves. No secret initiations, no ‘bridge-to-nowhere’, no gurus… just straightforward teaching, powerfully effective material, & plenty of clear-spoken feedback, taught by people with at least 13+ years of practical experience.

Charter of the School of Practical Mysticism:
  1. When in doubt, ask. Feel free to speak up! Asking benefits both the student, & the teacher. If you're capable enough to ask, you deserve a good Answer.
  2. If [the teaching] seems 'mystical' or 'impractical', then time to ask! Request a practical example... but don't be surprised if we 'accidentally' read one from your own experience. Laughing -and thus-
  3. There will never be descriptions of energetic workings, astral circuitry, mystical states, etc... without immediate clear, direct techniques for achieving these yourself.
The good news: you can get an awful lot of benefit with just a little bit of practice.
Correspondingly, if you're interested in working deeper, in approaching &/or apperceiving the Big Questions about Life & your Place in it... please call for a Reading, or sign-up for a Class.

Don't worry-- just keep practicing diligently, & all your questions (& answers) will come-up... almost as-if by magic. You could say it's 'built-in' to the material, if you will. Wink

Newsflash

How's about closing-out Last year with a little 'Completing the Cycles' Meditation?

1) Imagine two bubbles in front of you... let's say a bit bigger than a beach ball but not bigger than a house. Laughing
Imagine one bubble is labelled "Last Year", & the other "The New Year".

Now start imagining a cascade of all the stuff from last year you'd love to forget...
... from politics to economic crises to panic-attacks to bad hair days...
... from dreams forgotten to plans mislaid to auld acquaintances to 'guilty-pleasure' tv-watching...
& let that whole avalanche just start filling-in that "Last Year" bubble, & watch (or imagine) it bulge...

Include anything & everything, from old/dead goals or mockups to old dead 'new years eve' promises to just plain un-fun events... in fact anything you'd like to get rid of... From stuff that's annoying to just mildly disturbing... Just bundle it up, or imagine a fork-lift, & just shove it all in there...

And just for a moment, notice if you feel any different as you imagine this... perhaps a little lighter, clearer... Or maybe your thoughts get just a little less hectic, your space just a little bit less 'busy'...

2. And now on to Step Two:
Now take a moment to Remember all your Successes from Last Year (or just your Favorite ones), your Joys, completed Creations... the Fun Times... Excelsior!
(You may even want to write some of them down, to remind you of 'battles won', eg. a 'stash of smiles' for rainy days...)
